Utility Relief

Lowering Costs & Demanding Utility Accountability

Maryland families are feeling the squeeze of rising utility rates. Delegate Julian Ivey believes that public infrastructure should serve the public good—not just corporate bottom lines. In Annapolis, Julian has consistently fought to hold massive energy conglomerates accountable and shield ratepayers from skyrocketing monthly bills.

Key Victories & Legislative Action

  • The Utility RELIEF Act (2026): Julian proudly supported the passage of this landmark, historic omnibus energy package. The legislation aggressively tackles energy-load inflation by temporarily reducing energy-related surcharges, giving families immediate breathing room on their monthly statements.

  • Reining in Corporate Greed: Julian successfully fought to pass measures ensuring big energy CEO salaries and unchecked corporate profits cannot simply be passed down onto the shoulders of everyday ratepayers.

  • Pausing Predatory Surcharges: The 2026 legislation placed a critical pause on "forecast test years," freezing a common practice utilities use to preemptively justify rate hikes while regulators step in to audit their spending.

  • Data Center Accountability: New 2026 grid standards require resource-heavy data centers to pay their fair share for their massive impact on our local electric grid, ensuring Prince George's County residents don't subsidize tech giants.

"We shouldn't have to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table. I'm fighting every day to put power—and money—back into the hands of Prince George’s County families."

Capital Investment

Delivering Our Fair Share for Prince George’s County

As the only leader from Prince George’s County on the House Capital Budget Subcommittee, Delegate Julian Ivey is uniquely positioned to ensure our community isn't left behind when state funds are distributed. Julian treats every legislative session as an opportunity to secure tangible infrastructure investments that modernize our neighborhoods and stimulate local job growth.

Direct Results for District 47A

  • Over $30 Million Secured: Julian successfully fought for and brought back more than $30M in dedicated capital funding specifically earmarked for community projects across District 47A.

  • Balancing the Budget with Zero New Taxes: Working through complex economic constraints in the FY 2027 State Capital Budget, Julian and legislative leaders passed a balanced, fiscally responsible budget that protects critical infrastructure investments without raising taxes on local residents.

  • Local Jobs and Infrastructure: From improving neighborhood roadways and stormwater management systems to funding vital public facilities, these capital projects ensure that our state tax dollars are coming right back into Prince George's County to build up our communities.

Trump-Proofing Maryland

Safeguarding Our Values, Our Rights, and Our Communities

With an unpredictable federal administration in Washington, Maryland cannot afford to sit back passively. Delegate Julian Ivey is leading the charge to Trump-proof Maryland—building an ironclad legislative shield that protects our immigrant neighbors, defends our democracy, and safeguards our communities against federal overreach.

Defending Maryland in the 2026 Legislative Session

  • The Community Trust Act: In direct response to aggressive federal enforcement overreach, Julian and the General Assembly passed this critical emergency legislation. The Act strictly limits state and local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities without a judicial warrant, protecting families from separation and keeping our local trust intact.

  • Enforcing Compliance with ICE Bans: To ensure our local protections have real teeth, new 2026 legislation mandates that local police departments must fully comply with state laws banning cooperation with ICE. Any local jurisdiction or department that fails to follow these guidelines risks losing their state public safety funding.

  • Securing Police Communications Against Federal Surveillance: Julian successfully fought to secure state funding for critical technology and communication upgrades for local police departments. These encrypted upgrades prevent ICE from monitoring local law enforcement radio traffic, ensuring state resources are not weaponized for federal deportation efforts.

  • Data and Privacy Protections: Julian supported new restrictions blocking federal agencies from pillaging state data pools, ensuring Marylanders' private records aren't weaponized by federal authorities.

"When the federal government threatens our values, Maryland must stand as a sanctuary of progress, safety, and democracy. We are Trump-proofing our state so that every family in Prince George's County can live without fear."

Investing in the Future of Our Children

Every child in Prince George’s County deserves access to world-class public education. Delegate Julian Ivey is fully committed to deeply funding our public schools, ensuring our teachers have the resources they need, and providing our students with safe, modern environments to learn, grow, and thrive.

Historic Investments in PGCPS

  • Over $1.2 Billion Secured: In the latest FY 2026/2027 state budget cycles, Julian fought alongside the Prince George's delegation to deliver a historic $1.2+ Billion in funding for Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS).

  • Fully Funding the Blueprint: This massive state investment directly supports the continued, equitable implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, expanding high-quality pre-K programs, raising teacher pay, and bolstering college and career readiness.
